Grade Four Teacher (Probationary)
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Professional Knowledge and Experience
- Holds a valid Alberta teaching certificate and a Bachelor of Education degree.
- Has experience teaching elementary grades, with strong knowledge or willing to learn the Grade 4 curriculum.
- Demonstrates an understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
- Skilled in developing and implementing Individual Program Plans (IPPs).
- Uses formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and guide student progress.
- Has familiarity with, and supports, the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS), including applying foundational knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives.
- Understands and supports the FMPSD Education Plan Priorities and school-based learning goals.
Faith and Vision Alignment
- Committed to integrating a Christian worldview into teaching and learning.
- Models Christian values through speech, conduct, and professional relationships.
- Actively supports the Fort McMurray Christian School vision document and mission statement.
- Willing to participate in and/or help lead worship, devotions, chapel, and other spiritual leadership opportunities.
- Willing to be trained in Teaching for Transformation (TfT) and actively supports its implementation.
Instructional and Classroom Practice
- Creates a classroom environment characterized by inclusion, equity, and student belonging.
- Demonstrates effective classroom management and strong organizational skills.
- Integrates technology meaningfully into teaching and student learning (e.g., Google Classroom, Viewsonic, SeeSaw).

- Supports literacy and numeracy development through evidence-based practices.
Relational and Community Engagement
- Establishes effective partnerships with parents/caregivers and involves them in student learning.
- Recognizes the importance of promoting the school positively in the wider community.
- Builds collaborative teams with educational assistants and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Open to new programs and initiatives that enhance student learning and well-being.
- Willing to participate actively in the school community beyond the classroom, including clubs, teams, and extracurricular activities.
